Labor
and Delivery Area
This is the area where you will begin
your journey to giving birth, in one of our two labor rooms or two
birthing rooms. At our nurses station, which is centrally located, you
will find state-of-the-art central fetal monitoring equipment. Each room
is individually monitored with individual workstations in each room,
allowing the nurse to spend more time at the laboring woman's bedside,
instead of at the nurses station.
The labor rooms are used for women who are in early labor or having
their labor induced. The birthing rooms are for women in active labor.
The birthing rooms offer more room for moving about and will accommodate
any and all equipment needed for the birth. Rocker-recliners are
available, as well as televisions and music systems. The woman stays
here through her labor and birth, and recovers for a time until she is
ready to move to her post-partum room.
Post-Partum Rooms
After recovering for a short period, the new mother is moved to one of
eight post-partum rooms, some of which are semi-private, though nursing
staff make every effort to put only one mother in each room. Two rooms
are designated for gynecological surgical patients. Your baby may stay
with you as much as you desire during the day. During the night, most
babies are in the nursery and come to you for feeding, unless you desire
otherwise.
Level I Nursery
Most babies stay with their mother in her
room throughout the day. Babies who need special observation or care are
kept in the nursery so the nursing staff can give the baby more
one-on-one attention. Should there be a need to keep your baby in the
nursery, you may visit as often as you desire.
