Fundraising Events
The OSF St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group Foundation hosts three major fundraisers each year: a golf scramble, a gourmet dinner and a hospice mail campaign. Proceeds from the golf outing and dinner are used to purchase needed equipment and support new programs and services for OSF St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group patients. The hospice mail campaign benefits OSF Hospice patients.
Gourmet Dinner
Each year in October, the OSF Foundation hosts its "Heart of Gold: A Culinary Experience" dinner, which has grown to become one of the most popular events in our communities. Guests enjoy an exquisite seven-course dinner prepared by chefs from the Upper Michigan Chapter of the American Culinary Federation. The menu, which is unveiled to guests at the dinner, features tantalizing dishes that could not otherwise be experienced in the Upper Peninsula and often in larger cities, as well.
Past courses have included: grilled maple leaf duck; ostrich Wellington; flambé of brandied shrimp; autumn bisque of roasted squash; an endive salad with garlic, wild mushrooms, white pepper pecans and a warm bacon vinaigrette; wild rice stuffed quail; molten chocolate cake; white and dark chocolate mousse; and an elk and venison pate.
"Going for the Green" Golf Outing
The 16th annual OSF St. Francis "Going for the Green" golf outing was held Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Sweetgrass Golf Course. We are pleased to announce the event was a sell-out!
The "Going for the Green" golf outing is one of two major fundraisers for the OSF St. Francis Foundation. Money raised during the event is used to provide needed new services and equipment for patients in Delta County and surrounding areas.
The Upper Peninsula's only Catholic Hospital, OSF St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group, provides over $7 million in charity care annually to patients who do not have the means to pay for some or all of the care they receive.
The OSF St. Francis Foundation was formed in 1992 for the purpose of raising money to provide new services and needed equipment for OSF St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group patients. To date nearly $9 million has been raised. The largest donation to the Foundation to date is a $5 million gift given in 2006 to be utilized for the renovation and expansion of the Emergency and Walk-in Care Center.
Mail Campaign
The annual OSF Hospice "Evergreen" mail campaign is held each spring, with monies benefiting OSF hospice patients.
Employee Giving
OSF St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group employees also give generously to the OSF Foundation, helping to purchase needed equipment and support new services and programs. An employee campaign is held each year in February and March, organized and promoted by the Foundation Director and a committee of volunteer employees. In 2000, OSF employees from here in Delta County and the OSF corporate office in Peoria, Illinois, donated over $100,000 to help build the dialysis center.
