Fundraising Events
The OSF St. Francis Hospital Foundation
hosts three major fundraisers each year: a golf scramble, a gourmet
dinner and a hospice mail campaign. Proceeds from the golf outing and
dinner are used to purchase needed equipment and support new programs
and services for OSF St. Francis Hospital patients. The hospice mail
campaign benefits OSF Bay de Noc Hospice patients.
Gourmet Dinner
Each year in October the OSF Foundation
hosts its “Heart of Gold: A Culinary Experience” dinner, which has
grown to become one of the most popular events in our communities.
Guests enjoy an exquisite seven-course dinner prepared by chefs from
the Upper Michigan Chapter of the American Culinary Federation. The
menu, which is unveiled to guests at the dinner, features tantalizing
dishes that could not otherwise be experienced in the Upper Peninsula
and often in larger cities, as well. Past courses have included:
grilled maple leaf duck; ostrich Wellington; flambé of brandied
shrimp; autumn bisque of roasted squash; an endive salad with garlic,
wild mushrooms, white pepper pecans and a warm bacon vinaigrette; wild
rice stuffed quail; molten chocolate cake;
white and dark chocolate mousse; and an elk and venison pate.
This mouth-watering event is a sell-out
every year. For information or reservations, call the OSF St. Francis
Hospital Foundation at 906-786-5707, ext. 5513.
Golf Outing
The OSF St. Francis Hospital “Going for
the Green” golf outing is held each year in June, with 144 golfers
participating in the four-person scramble. The event includes 18 holes
of golf, dinner, door prizes, raffle items and a silent auction.
Mail Campaign
The annual OSF Bay de Noc Hospice
“Evergreen” mail campaign is held each spring, with monies benefiting
OSF hospice patients. OSF Bay de Noc Hospice is the oldest rural
hospice in Michigan – and the first in the Upper Peninsula – and has
been a model for providing care in patients’ homes.
Employee Giving
OSF St. Francis Hospital employees also
give generously to the OSF Foundation, helping to purchase needed
equipment and support new services and programs. An employee campaign
is held each year in February and March, organized and promoted by the
Foundation Director and a committee of volunteer employees. In 2000,
OSF employees from here in Delta County and the OSF corporate office
in Peoria, Illinois, donated over $100,000 to help build the dialysis
center.
