Ambulatory Care

The Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU) is a nursing unit that cares for patients requiring care beyond that which a physician office usually provides. The ACU cares for patients having outpatient surgery such as tonsillectomy, laparoscopic hernia repair and any other operation which does not require an overnight hospital stay. Preparatory teaching is given to patients to ensure they are knowledgeable regarding the role of the hospital and that they are at optimum health prior to the day of surgery.

The trained nursing staff supports physicians performing endoscopic procedures of the stomach and bowel and treating cancer patients with chemotherapy.

ACU nurses have a goal to provide personalized nursing care which will allow patients to return to their home environment. This care is provided to the patients according to the philosophy and mission of The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis.
