Room Service

A new inpatient "room service" program allows OSF St. Francis patients to order meals throughout the day, with a more extensive menu from which to choose.

Requests for room service are taken from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and meals are delivered within 30 minutes. Light menu items are also available for patients who arrive in their room after room service hours have ended, or who desire a late-evening snack. Family members or the hospital's food service staff assists patients unable to call for their own meal.

OSF is one of the only hospitals in the Upper Peninsula to offer this new service, which has been tremendously popular with patients

"If a patient returns from surgery at 3 p.m. and wants lunch, we will deliver it, said Linda Klope, registered dietician and certified diabetic educator with OSF. "An early riser can enjoy breakfast at 7:30 a.m., while someone else may order at 10."

Room service menus are based on physician-ordered diets. A traditional breakfast menu includes made-to-order omelets, French toast, pancakes, oatmeal, fresh fruit, muffins and more. A typical lunch/dinner menu features a variety of salads with choices of vegetables and dressings; made-to-order individual pizzas; soups and sandwiches; and roast turkey, beef or pork. Vegetarian selections are also available and breakfast can be ordered all day.
