Sports Medicine/Certified Athletic Training
The Rehabilitation Services Department at OSF St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group offers athletic training services, with a certified athletic trainer educated in the care, prevention and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Athletic trainers are educated in the care, prevention and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Services are provided for musculoskeletal/orthopedic injuries ranging from sprains, strains and contusions to arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery. The focus of these services is to return the athlete to competitive activities as quickly and as safely possible.
A referral from a physician is needed to begin outpatient rehabilitation. After an initial evaluation by a physical therapist, further visits are set up with an athletic trainer.
